This Gluten Free Jalapeno Cheddar Bread is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with cheddar cheese and jalapenos. It is a delicious artisan-style loaf that is completely gluten free and perfect for soups, sandwiches, or enjoying warm with butter.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups (420g) certified gluten free bread flour blend
  • 1 teaspoon xanthan gum (if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 jalapenos, seeded and diced

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: Whisk together gluten free flour, xanthan gum, and salt.
  3. Make the Dough: Add olive oil and vinegar to the yeast mixture. Stir in dry ingredients until a thick dough forms.
  4. Add Cheese and Jalapenos: Fold in cheddar cheese and jalapenos.
  5. Shape the Dough: Place on parchment paper and shape into a round loaf.
  6. Rise: Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat Oven: Heat oven to 425F with a Dutch oven inside.
  8. Bake: Transfer dough into Dutch oven. Bake covered for 30 minutes. Remove lid and bake 15 minutes more.
  9. Cool: Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Always use certified gluten free ingredients. Allow the loaf to cool completely before slicing. Store leftovers in an airtight container or freeze individual slices for up to 3 months.
